but need to clean free space so that it will run faster. I have deleted and cleaned up my computer. I have just started using ccleaner and it will not clean my freespace either, same as you describe. If you don't already, I would run Wipe Free Space on it's own, and with one drive checked if you have more than one. I'll see if I can get some info on that, but have a go with the older version first, and see what happens.ĮDIT: Just an afterthought Bruce. I've only used Wipe Free Space once myself, and it ran and completed OK, so I don't know exactly what those left over files will look like. I'm still puzzled though that there aren't any large files left after CCleaner didn't finish it's run. I don't have a straight out definitive answer for you, but maybe try going back to the version that worked OK for you, and if it runs fine as it did before, that will at least confirm that it's a CCleaner issue and not your PC. Were there any major changes in the last 3 releases that would cause this syndrome after nearly 3 years of successful use of CC ? That's why I've tried updating the release to no avail, then uninstalling the release & downloading new - STILL to no avail. A duplicate file management tool that can help you find and delete duplicate files by comparing file name, file size or contents. I realize that it tkes some serious time to sweep that much free space, but I'm not joking - I've let it run uninterrupted for 72+ hours on 3 separate occaisons with the last 3 releases of CC. I have successfully used "wipe free space" in the past - just in the last several weeks has CC refused to complete. There are no large strangely named files in my C:\ root directory - I try to keep this puppy as clean as I can.
